flanged ball bearing
SANBURG FLANGES BEARINGS
Many ball bearings have flanges as options to their configurations. The flange is designed to aid in mounting and positioning. This is especially true for miniature and instrument bearings but applies to other ball bearing types. To see various types of flanged ball bearings (non-mounted), please visit the links below:

Flanges are also used with bearings on external housings used to mount a bearing unit. A mounted bearing unit acts as a system to position the bearing securely for reliable operation. To learn more about flanged mounted bearing units, please visit Pillow Blocks, Flanges, Take Up Units, and Bearing Inserts.
Flanged housings of smaller sizes are triangular and the larger sizes have a square shape. They can be used for self-aligning ball bearings and spherical roller bearings. They can be used for tapered bores on an adapter sleeve on smooth shafts.
They require felt seals and grease lubrication. They are made of gray cast iron. Different types of flanged ball bearings are used for mild and harsh conditions.
